HARDWARE
What can I machine?
The CNC ONE is capable of machining a wide range of materials, including plywood, hardwoods, softwoods, and MDF. It is also suitable for processing plastics such as HDPE, Delrin®, polycarbonate, acrylic, and Corian®. Furthermore, it can work with non-ferrous metals like aluminum, brass, and copper.
For the best possible outcomes when machining aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, the use of lubrication and tools specifically designed for metal is necessary. To achieve optimal carving results, appropriate cut settings and efficient chip removal are essential. Our team is continuously working to optimize cut settings for various materials and will provide updated recommendations in the Academy as soon as they are available.
Can I machine metal?
You can machine aluminum and other nonferrous metals. For the best outcomes in machining aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, lubricants and tools designed specifically for metals are essential. Ferrous metals can also be machined. However, this requires A. experience and B. moderate feed rates.
Is the spindle cooled?
Most of our customers use the machine with AMB spindles. These spindles are air-cooled. For other solutions, you can contact us.
Is it possible to attach a laser head to CNC ONE MAX?
We are planning on adding a laser-head as an optional Add-on in the future. While some individuals are modifying their machines, such modifications are considered unsupported upgrades, are not covered by, and will likely void the 1-year limited warranty that comes with the CNC ONE.
Is it possible to add modifications to the machine?
We strongly advise against any DIY modifications to the portal. Those who still decide to undertake DIY projects should be aware that any warranty claims will become void.
How big is the work area for CNC ONE MAX?
The CNC ONE MAX XL can process 1mx1m, equating to one square meter. The smaller L version can handle a maximum of 0.85m x 0.5m, which equals 0.425m².
What is the weight of CNC ONE MAX?
The machine-weight is around 125kg for the XL version. And around 100kg for the L.
How big is the footprint of the MAX?
The MAX XL measures 1260mm x 1260mm x 600mm, while the dimensions of the MAX L are 1060mm x 760mm x 600mm. For the XL, the table should be at least 1400mm x 1400mm. The machine table size for the L should be 1200mm x 900mm.
SOFTWARE
Why Fusion360?
Fusion 360 is an all-encompassing software solution for Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), enabling users to navigate the entire product development process within a single platform.
It offers an extensive range of tools for 3D modeling, simulation, and manufacturing, making it ideal for engineers, designers, and hobbyists looking to create complex designs and prototypes. The software supports real-time collaboration, allowing teams at different locations to work on projects simultaneously, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
Fusion 360 facilitates seamless integration with other Autodesk products and cloud storage solutions, simplifying access to projects and data sharing. It provides advanced analysis tools that enable making design decisions based on simulation results and optimizing product performance. With its flexibility and comprehensive features, Fusion 360 is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a powerful yet user-friendly solution for product development.
Can I use another Software?
Of course, one can use a different software. Those who prefer to create their CAD designs with Solidworks, for example, are free to do so. In the Academy, we had to focus on one software, and the choice fell on Fusion360. Fusion is free for hobbyists, boasts a huge and active community, and offers an "all-in-one" package with a wide array of features. For us, the support for other software solutions is very limited.
What software controls CNC ONE?
We work with a modified version of Linux CNC. Linux CNC allows us to tailor the software to our needs. The open-source nature of the software means we are not dependent on the decisions of others, which permits a high degree of adaptability.
Do I need an external computer to control my machine?
No, you do not need any external software or hardware to manually operate your machine. Our control cabinet is not just a simple signal transmitter. Inside our control cabinet beats the heart of a fully-fledged computer. Of course, for CAD/CAM creation, we recommend using external hardware.
Do I need an internet connection?
We recommend an internet connection for the cloud functions we are currently implementing. However, it is not mandatory. You can also transfer your machine codes, for example, via a simple USB stick.
ACADEMY
What is the CNC ONE Academy?
The CNC ONE Academy is an online course for our customers with over 60 video lessons. The Academy offers an easy introduction to the world of CNC. In the beginning, CNC milling can leave many users facing a wall of questions. We aim to solve this problem with the Academy. Entering the world of CNC should be simple and quick. However, the CNC ONE Academy does not replace the experience that comes over time and with the use of the machine.
What are the contents of the Academy?
We offer detailed set-up instructions. This is followed by general topics in the field of CNC technology. Safety-related topics are of course also addressed. We also go into the manual operation of the machine. There are also sample projects in the Academy that you can copy. More projects will be presented in the future.
Is the Academy free?
The Academy is free of charge for all our customers and will remain so.
